Certified Medical Assistant

Our Certified Medical Assistant program teaches both theory and practical information regarding medical diagnostics, laboratory techniques and back office operation, such as medical billing and record keeping. The student will learn basic anatomy and physiology, and receive training in medical techniques, including injections, urinalysis, venipuncture and electrocardiography. The student will also learn how to take blood pressure, temperature and heart rate, and perform EKG, First Aid, and CPR.

With the increasing shortage of physicians and health care workers in the medical field, medical assistants are becoming a critical part of the medical team. Existing physicians in the community are requiring medical assistance in their offices and clinics.

Program Outcome

The expected outcome for the program is to provide the graduate with the ability to obtain an entry-level position as a Medical Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Laboratory Assistant, EKG Technician or Hospital Assistant. After graduation students will be prepared to take the National Medical Certification Exam.
